Patterns with Nature

Today we went outside and enjoyed the beautiful, crisp fall air and collected natural objects from our school yard.

We brought our collection inside and began to organize our objects in different ways according to their attributes.

Students then has to organize their objects into patterns with at least two changing attributes. Check out our patterns!

Ontario is beautiful!

We are so fortunate to live in a province that is so diverse and beautiful. We have such a variety of land and soil, climate, communities, industries, wildlife, and jobs.

To take a closer look at our wonderful province, we watched a commercial about how "there's no place like this."

Next, students labelled their landform region maps.

Finally students were given cards with a variety of discussion points about landform regions.

We LOVE Ontario!

Our first problem of the week!

On this rainy Monday morning we started something very exciting, problem of the week!

Students first had to "wrestle with the problem" and work independently for five minutes.

Next, students had the opportunity to see what strategies their classmates used to solve the problems.

Finally, we sorted the problems by strategy.

We are excited to continue this activity weekly!
